The report is predicted to be even more groundbreaking than the commission's initial report in 2011, representing a new mindset of the Global Commission on Drug Policy, and will make the group the highest-profile group of government, health, and business leaders to call for sweeping reform of global drug policy as well as major paradigm shift in how global drug policy is approached.
Speakers scheduled to participate include, former Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, the chairman of the commission, former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, former Colombian President César Gaviria, former Swiss President Ruth Dreifuss, former Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio, and billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson, among others. Following the conference, the Commissioners will then have an afternoon meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson in the afternoon following the press conference.
